Hi! I’m not sure if you’ll see this but if you do, I need help! I have a lavender twist redbud that snapped in half (the tree was about 6-7 feet tall and thin (1in diameter at top off trunk but the bottom of the trunk was probably 2-3 inches in diameter). Is it possible to still grow either the top halves that broke off or the long stumps that are left in the pot?
Hi Mike,
I love the lavender twist and wanted to put one in my front yard near my porch. How far away from the house do you recommend the tree be planted? Is the front yard near my porch not a great place to plant it?
If you have a young Lavender Twist you can train it to weep any height. All you have to do is clip the top off at your desired height. The tree only knows how to weep, it doesn’t not know hot to grow upright.
What do I do after they start to leaf out? They are about 5′ now with around 14 leaves on the upper foot. Should I feed / strip any lower sprouts on the trunk?

You should plant the tree and retrain it to grow up right as new growth appears.

Beatriz,
Near the front porch is fine, but I’d keep it at least 8′ to 10′ away from the house to give it plenty of room.
Or when / where do I start cutting for a Weeping Affect?
Marla,

Marla,
Don’t remove the lower branches until there is plenty of leaves up top to feed the tree.
