Chicken raising is a rather large decision and with that we have hunted up twenty different sites for you to peruse and check out to see if its something that you might want to do.

1. The Art of Manliness

This one has guest posts and follows you through day to day care of this man’s chickens. The rest of the site is not dedicated to JUST chickens. You have many things to explore while checking it out. It was the top of the list for views and visits, so it is the number one site of the day.

2. The Old Farmer’s Almanac

This site appears to not be mostly about the upbringing of chickens. It has the 101 one tips on raising them and has other pages dedicated to the weather and recipes and gardening tips. Very informative information for the chickens and how to get started.

3. About.com Small Farms

With this site, it starts about how to keep chickens warm in the winter. A pretty important thing to know when the temperatures drop to unfavorable levels. They also have ideas how to start a farm and how to raise animals. A must if you intend to raise chickens.

On this site, it is also entirely dedicated to the raising of the chicken. There is a forum about information on chicken hatcheries and ideas galore. Don’t ignore this one. It comes with some astounding information.

This is a blog site dedicated to….you guessed it… Raising chickens. Marti seems to be an authority in the business of back yard chickens farms. He has a guide waiting for you and is very enthusiastic about helping you get fresh eggs from your new farm.

This entire site is involved in the guidance of helping you work with your chickens. He covers the good, the bad and the ugly of chicken farming.

Here you will learn how to raise for eggs, how to choose your breed and help you figure out if you want to keep them as pets or if you would prefer to have them as meat. They walk you through the entire process of decisions. They also cover a bit about ducks and the availability of them as meat.

It has the cutest pictures of baby chicks that you will ever see. Backed up by ideas for building the chicken coop, pictures and instructions on how to incubate the eggs and how to keep the chicks as they grow. It also follows ‘the Legalities’ of chicken raising in your back yard. Food for thought in some areas.

Although not much different from the other sites discussed, it does cover what kinds of food to feed your chickens and has a page designated on books. It does sell or link to books that are for sale that cover different information on chickens. Could be a plethora of golden opportunistic information.

With a 3.9 star rating, this site takes your through the differences of poultry chickens, Bantam chickens and backyard chickens. It also supplies you with some very funny and creative photos.

15. The City Chicken

Although this site is monetized, the woman has a sense of humor. YOU get to see how she is raising them in the city and how she built some homemade homes for you beauties. She does show some creative style and some funny anecdotes to things as well as chicken tractors. You must know, they pictures for you to enjoy and once again get to know her sense of humor.

This cute and intelligent blog is right up one’s alley. Although low on the popularity list at this time, it is very specific about things you will need for the chicks, the adults and how to house them properly. She goes into great detail how to care for your chickens and many creative solutions to things in your way.

17. Real People With Real Chicken Experience

This little site covers the abc’s of raising chickens. From disease to healthy helping. About chicken meat, organic chickens and how to hatch chickens. It seems to cover them all.
