Hello from Branson, Missouri!
Pam and I are currently vacationing here in Branson. Branson is an amazing place to visit. We first discovered Branson back in 1996. I surprised Pam with a trip for our 20th wedding anniversary and we’ve been coming here ever since.
Branson is America! Nestled in the heart of the Ozark Mountains the views are beautiful and the people are very friendly. In Branson at each and every show they recognize the veterans in the audience, have them stand to be applauded, and in most theaters they play the theme song for each branch of that particular branch of the armed services as they recognize them. It’s a well deserved tribute to the heroes of our country.
People wonder why we keep coming back and the answer is simple. We have a great time! Branson has more music shows on a daily basis than any place I’ve seen or heard of. Branson has something like 82 different shows to choose from each and every day! Here’s a list of Branson shows.
http://www.bransontourismcenter.com/shows
Here in Branson the shows start at 10:00 am and run until 11:00 p.m. All of the shows are family shows. The music is great and the amount of talent in this town is incredible. Most of the shows have at least one comedian in the show, and they are hilarious.
We just arrived yesterday. Last night we saw the http://www.baldknobbers.com/ show. We’ve seen this show several times over the years and more than likely we’ll see it again each and everytime we come to Branson. It was fantastic as usual.
This morning we saw a tribute to John Denver featuring James Garrett. James was a friend of John Denver and it was really interesting to listen as he shared his stories of John Denver, his family, and his amazing career.
The show was at the Little Opry Theater. We’ve seen shows in this little theater before and they are always special because the theater only seats about 200 people and the five rows of seats wrap around the small stage. It is up close and personal. This was an excellent show, I highly recommend it to any John Denver fan.
If you don’t think you’ll ever have the opportunity to make a trip to Branson the go to the Baldknobbers website and order a video of the show. The Mabes family has been doing shows in Branson for 51 years. Same for the Presley family. Their theater, Presely’s Country Jubilee is right across the street and is my favorite Branson show. They have four generations of Presleys on the stage, and you’ve never seen such talent. We wont’ see that show until next week, but I can assure you we will see it before we leave town. Do yourself a favor and get a video of their show as well.
Thursday evening we went back to the Little Opry Theater to see James Garret do a George Strait tribute. Great show, excellent George Strait and Patsy Cline tributes.
Thursday evening was special because as a thank you gift for helping Kevin and Gracie with their wedding they bought us front row seats to Cirque Montage. What a show! This was by far the most amazing display of acrobatic skills I’ve ever seen. And of course since it was a gift from them we really enjoyed it.
Today at 2:00 pm we are going to see Swingin Doors a classic country music show. Then tonight we will see the Magnificent Variety Show. We’ve seen this show before and it is fast, furious, and highly entertaining. Packed with multi talented people.
That’s it for now, if you’d like to follow us on this vaction come back to http://MikesBackyardNursery.com and I’ll keep you updated.
Have a great day and stay inspired!

My husband cut back all the ivy from around the house and trees right up next to the house (cedar) and all the far too many flowering shrubs all over the front yard years ago. Then we began to plant where we wanted things. Had a “plan” rathen than a “hit and miss” method. I (like one of my brothers) am good at lnadscape design. Love any information and happy to have found you. Love your sharing helpful hints and tips to people who do remove their own huge trees or shurbs. If too big, we’ve had to call the tree surgeon to do the work. But we have done so much to remove and keep back overgrowth. I love ivy and have used it on the three trellis you can find on my property.
I enjoy rooting plants so much rather than BUYING them like gardenias, boxwoods, and hydrangeas.Enjoyed the video. Thanks for adding me to your list of people who LOVE plants, etc. because I think God made them for our enjoyent and pleasure.

Branson should be nice this time of year… hope you both have a great time. The Eastern Ozarks are lovely, too. Have you visited Johnson’s Shut-Ins or Tom Sauk (Missouri’s highest point)? They are near Arcadia Valley, where we live and get your newsletters.

We love Branson. Lived 15 years only 65 miles from there and saw many shows. We now live 250 miles away, but we get to Branson several times a year and always on our anniversary (my wife and I just celebrated 56 years Sept 3) One of our favorite shows is the Presley’s (we have many favorites as they are all good). A couple of weeks ago we throughly enjoyed something different. We saw the American Indian show “Brule” at the RFD Theater; Very inspiring and educational. Also, we saw “Noah, The Musical” this year which is quite a performance. We are glad you are enjoying your Branson vacation.

I too and born and raised in Missouri and went to college at School of the Ozarks at the Branson/Hollister area. Mike if you get a chance check out the college they have a great ag. dept. and the Ralph Foster Museum is great. There is also a Kewpie doll collection by Rose O’Neill and dolls for sale at the restaurant on the hill. The students work on the campus beside taking classes. They earn their way through college by working at some job at the college or the restaurant. The campus is beautiful and they have first class teachers and working ag. farm. I now live with my husband of 35 years in an eye blink town called Iantha.

So glad to see you found Branson, and so close to me. Just a little over an hour and half. I have 12 acres east of Branson and maybe when you get home, we can figure out the proper way for me to do “some gardening”. Enjoy your visit to the Ozarks.

Mike, you might like to take a ride to Eureka Springs, AR, about an hour drive and well worth it. I live in Missouri and work in Eureka Springs. I absolutly love it and know you both will also. The have the Great Passion Play, Thorncrown glass church, the haunted Cresent Hotel, and the historic district houses are beautiful.
I love your emails and all the info you give, wish I could do it, but not at this time.

Mike, you’re about 25 minutes from me right now! Small world. My family rarely sees the shows (except when they have special “local appreciation” nights), but we really love Silver Dollar City. If you haven’t spent a day out there yet, mark it for your next trip. There’s something there for every age and temperament!
…Just wanted to say welcome to the Ozarks!

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I really enjoy reading your articles and watching your videos. I have thus far been unable to take advantage of growing and selling, as I live in a mobile home park, and there are strict rules we have to follow. I would love to grow beautiful flowers to sell; I would love to grow beautiful flowers, period. Bad soil, so everything I do has to go in pots, and they don’t always do what I want. I have a hard time keeping up with the watering also, as it is very dry and hot here in W Wendover, Nevada. Maybe someday, I can do better.
