Mike, I entered a comment this week, and I would love have a new tiller, but I saw in the comments that some other people need one more than I do and are on a smaller income than I am. Therefore, I would rather take my comment out for other people to have a chance that need one more than I do.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us and I really enjoy your humor in your writing and videos.

The best to you and your family.

I would love to enter my name too if you have no objection at all. I love to win because I am single woman and keener gardener. This will help me in my backyard and at the same time it will remind me of your gift which I will be using during spring and summer. It will make my task easy and in return will help to grow more food and share with poor and needy people in our community. Because of problems with my hands and due to old age it will be very useful for me.

My soil is really hard. I bought an extra heavy weight shovel and that helps with the digging, but even thinking about it makes my lower back hurt, LOL. I’ve received Mantis flyers, and inquired about them and received more information. It comes down to the price I just cannot afford. You are awesome for all of your free giveaways, and have some very dedicated followers learning all of your great tips, that you can’t find anywhere else. This tiller would give me the muscle that I really need to be able to landscape and create my gardens the way they should be done. I’m a single mom, just one income to spread out on a tight budget. Yet I have these crazy garden dreams that don’t stop, except where I don’t have the muscle or the $$. Mike, you are the best!

    Dear Mr. Mike,
I would like to briefly tell you about my husband who I know would love a small tiller. He is 65 this year I am 57. We have been married for 37 years. We started our first garden the first year we were married. It was under the eaves of the place we were renting. We could only grow some lettuce and radishes but they were a start. We added some pots out front for flowers. Within a few years we had our own place with a nice size garden. One of the people in our church allowed us to borrow her rototiller and it was a great help.
We have moved across the mountains and it is rainier than the east side of the state. We bought a large tiller and used it well. Now it is starting to fail. My husband has had it in for repairs and they told us the tiller is out of business and no parts can be had for it. My told me that he will keep working with it until it can no longer be used. He mentioned that it is getting to the point that he is not sure how much longer HE can keep going with the tiller – it is a rear tiller and very heavy.
He would like to retire when he is 66 but may have to wait till 70 since we have plans to expand our backyard from grandchildren’s toys to a raised garden area. The MANTIS sounds very workable. I cannot use it myself. I have to use a cane when walking. My husband does the gardening and I help by planning things out for him and watch him. We enjoy being with each other no matter what we are doing.
    Thank you,
    Margie

Hi Mike…..I have loved to garden most of my life (now 74) and have grown my own vegetables and have propagated Azaleas., Rhododendrons. Geraniums, and even Avocado Plants (I have one now that is over 10 feet tall). I am a computer dummy and dont know what a plug in is (grass to stick in the ground?) No, really I dont and I cant aford it if there is a fee. What else can I do? I just received my books. Barbara,

The contest is a social media event, that’s the only reason that we are doing it, to draw attention to the website. As far as the newsletter and all of my other content, anybody can access that right on the web. Of course the members area is only open to members.

Personally I love to sink my shovel into the soil & turn it over. I’m 71 & retired & still like to do my garden that way. As far as the Mantis tiller is concerned, it’s a great little machine. I had one. I used it sometimes. But mostly it sits in the shed & I still use my shovel.
As far as GIVING something away for gift. I’ll bet 3 out of 4 people on here would rather WIN a MISTING SYSTEM instead of a mantis tiller.
I mean…. how often will you use the tiller in a years time ?????
BUT….. a misting system will be used almost CONSTANTLY year ’round.
Now that is worth winning & having.
Have fun with your new tiller…… whoever the winner is.

I have been a member of the Backyard club quite a while. I could hardly believe when my $67 monthly fee was paid off!! I have loved my emails and all the knowledge I have gained. I am 59 years old and am on disability for diabetic neuropathy. I love gardening my yard is my love! I have unfortunately had some real hard times over the past year. My 40 year marriage just ended in divorce totally unexpectedly. I fell and broke my arm in nine places requiring shoulder replacement. surgery. My gardening will start this spring. My 27 year old son (never married) lives with me and I am so happy again and can not wait for spring.!! I have entered my name to win the tiller!! Thank you so much for your friendship through this computer. I look forward to learning more. Linda

My daughter just bought a home that has BAD soil and 2 acres of it!! I’d love to get one for her. Today was her un-lucky day.She was doing a paper route for one of her friends who has a brain tumor. She leaves Ida. at 2:am and drives 105 mi. Roads are covered with alot of snow and ice and while going up a hill she hit black ice on a bridge over a river, kept spinning around finally hit a gaurd rail that kept her out of the river but totaled her truck! The Cops said she wasn’t the first wreck there this A.M.He got on the radio and yelled at the ID.T.A. that should have had that sanded..
She is beat up some but feels worse for her truck and no transportation! Some times that happens when you try to help a friend.( I’m not adding this on to get a Mantis however.)

They are great for flower gardens and just for weeding weeds out of the egetable and flower gardens! They are easy to handle and light weight. I recommend every gardener should have one!

I’m looking for a number of small 1 gallon or 5 gallon Japanese White and Red pine trees. I could even use seedlings providing they are at least 8 to 12 inches tall. Is there somewhere where I can order these without paying an arm and a leg for shipment to California?

I do plant tomatoes peppers in containers, as we have a lot of clay and at my age and my husband I just can’t We have been looking for a used tiller but no luck. We are over the age of trying to be young again so I plant in containers. Had good luck & bad luck but I will keep trying. Having a roto tiller would be a great help so we can plant more and eat more healthier. I envy you for all the good work you do, I wish I could do what you do. Take care. Oh thank you for all the good advise.

Mike – I have been following you for years. I have planted gardens with vegetables every year. I always try to grow way tooooo much. I have come to the realization that I must down size & have a garden that I can work. I love to be outside digging in the dirt….it’s good for the soul, right? The back yard is my territory – I suffer from having seizures and I am often weak for days following . I garden to build up muscular strength. To have a mantis tiller to help me with this next seasons planting would be
such a blessing. Thank you for the opportunity to have a chance to win. Keep on diggin’ !

My husband and I are in our late 70’s, and love fresh fruits and veggies. We had a garden plot last year, which we won’t have this year, and want to start a garden here at home. At our age, it is hard to have to do everything “by hand”, and there has been no garden here previously, which means starting from scratch, an this tiller would be so helpful for our starting all over again. Love your articles, Mike, have made copies of many of them, putting together a notebook of my favorite articles. Thanks for being there for us.

I had one early mode, but it got away from me. My Mom used hers to garden long after she had to walk with a cane. If you have high raised beds of any size, and need to till in compost or prepare for planting, these cannot be beat — they’re likely to add a couple decades to your gardening ability. When Mike talks about how handy his is, he’s telling it straight.

Would LOVE to have one of these little magicians! Several years ago, I traded my big roto-tiller for a mantis….for one day….and could not believe how manageable it was. Now that my MS is worse….I think I will have to get one. The Doctor told me I needed to quit gardening. Hah! NEVER! If you know of any aspiring gardener near where I live….I’d be happy to give mine to someone who will really USE it!

Love all the wonderful information and things you are always teaching us, Mike. (please let me know, if you have a follower who might be able to use my tiller….it’s not SUPER heavy….but it’s no Mantis. haha. It’s kind of mid-way. And I HATE that it’s not being used)

This little tiller is awesome. We have had one for years and eventually my husband gave it to his mother to use in her flower garden. She is 94 and is able to use it without a problem. It’s great because you can do a small patch or even a larger garden but it is lightweight. Would love to win this because we now have a garden again and really miss it.

Wow…maybe I’ll get lucky and be able to replace them old one I now use!
I expect it’s to give up their ghost each time I use it.
The system seems to be working fine so far.
    Happy Gardening!
