Reviewing the Mantis Electric Tiller/Cultivator

Reviewing and Giving Away this Mantis Electric Tiller/Cultivator

Crazy right?  Giving away a tiller/cultivator for free?  Actually we are going to give away three of them.  The first one that we are giving away is the Mantis 4-Cycle Tiller Cultivator.  See it here . . .

Mantis has asked me to review three of their tiller cultivators.  They insisted that I do honest reviews, nothing sugar coated, “Just tell it like it is Mike!”  So that’s what I’ve done.

1 Simple Trick Produces Massive Roots

Then once I’ve done my reviews we have decided to give three of these machines to our loyal subscribers and customers.  But we can’t ship them since they are out of the box and assembled, so we will give them away local events here at the nursery geared toward our Loyal Subscribers and Members.

At the first such event we are giving away the 4 Cycle Machine.

The event is called The Wholesale Extravaganza at Mike’s Plant Farm here in Perry, Ohio.  Be here or be square!

An electric tiller?  You mean it needs a cord?

Yes and yes.  It does need a cord so clearly it’s not the ideal machine for everybody.  But if you are going to use it in an area where you have electric nearby and you don’t want to fool with gasoline or a gasoline and fuel mix, or you don’t really have a place to store fuel, then this is the tiller/cultivator for you.

Here’s something to think about.  There is no cord to pull, no choke to tinker with and No STARTING PROBLEMS!  It’s electric.  Just plug it in and squeeze the handle.  This machine has two speeds, fast and slow and I demonstrate them both in the video.

Was I skeptical when I first saw this tiller/cultivator?

Yes I was.  At a glance it was obviously built different than the Mantis tillers I’ve used in the past.  The tines looked different to me and that made me skeptical.

But . . . when I fired it up . . .

I was impressed.  I didn’t cut it any breaks, give it any special treatment, seek out especially soft ground to try it on.  As a matter of fact I took it out back, so far out back that I didn’t even have electricity, we had to use a generator to do the demonstration.  I picked a spot that is actually part of the dirt road that we use daily.  I drive the tractor over that spot, I’ve been driving my F250 over that spot all year, the girls drive the 4 wheeler over that spot several times a day.

I put this Tiller/Cultivator to the test!

I couldn’t believe it!  That little electric machine dug right in.  Watch the video.

I also used it to mix soil in the potting soil pile.  You can watch it climb right up the pile and mix the soil on it’s way down.

Also in the video I demonstrate my old tired Mantis 2 cycle machine because it continues to impress me.

Would I buy one of these Mantis Electric Tiller/Cultivators?

You bet I would if I could easily get electricity to the gardens that I wanted to till and cultivate.  I think it’s awesome little machine, great for ladies who don’t want to fool with fuel or storing fuel.  Or guys as well.

    Yo Mike!

Thanks for the review of the Electric Mantis Cultivator. However… the video included with the review is NOT for the Electric Mantis but for the new Mantis 4 cycle gas cultivator.

Don’t know if anyone else has pointed out this video mixup seeing as how the page was published June 9th and it’s the 28th of June today.

I bought the Mantis Electric Cultivator a few years ago and am ashamed to say it I haven’t used it once. At the time it was half the price of the 2 cycle I once had. (that one was stolen – kind of a backhanded compliment of how these cultivators are valued!)

Since I haven’t used the electric model I was really looking forward to seeing how you managed to use it effectively without running over the cord. So, I’m bummed that the video was the wrong one for the review.

Any chance of an Electric Mantis Review Redux with the correct video?

Thanks for all your instructional videos!

      Smitty,

I did mess up these videos. The electric tiller worked really well and if I can’t find the video we’ll simply re-shoot it. It’s been a crazy spring! Stay tuned.
