Where can I find Japanese Maple type trees in the Thumb area. I live in Lexington. Looking for two approx 3′ tall. My soil is a hard clay/sand mix, usually very damp and sometimes just plain wet.

    Please advise, Thanks

      Bernard,

Do not plant Japanese maples in a wet area. Raise the bed at least 8 to 10 inches with topsoil and cover the root ball with just one inch of soil. Good luck with your search. In our members area small Japanese maples are regularly sold from $4 to $20 each. http://backyardgrowers.com/join

      Silver,

Advice about what? Best thing in the world you can do is invest $7 and test drive the members area when it’s open. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn in 30 days. http://backyardgrowers.com/join

Hello, I am just starting out, I ordered Mike’s system and am really anxious to get up and running, but have limited funds. I need as much advice and cheap plants as possible to get going and hopefully be ready for next year. Would love to hear from anybody but it would be really nice to meet Michigan growers. Thanks in advance for any help. Karyn
