Mike, after watching this video I went out and pruned my Japanese maple. It is very tiny, only about 5″ tall and I have had it for about 5 yrs. I wanted a very slow grower and it is. However, it had a couple of branches that were very long and while it broke my heart to do it, I cut them off and maybe it will grow a little taller. I appreciate all of your videos, but I have a question. If I want to make cuttings of some of my bushes, potentilla and burning bushes, and I don’t know the exact variety, how can make tags for them? Are all of my cuttings no good now? Thanks again for all you do.

Mike, Once you cut off what looks like the main top of any tree will it stop getting much taller and just get bushier around the top? I am asking about trees in general as well as Acer palmatums and dissectums.
I have several varieties of Japanese maples. I have never pruned them, but having watched your video, they all have a date with my pruners! Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, My Brother cut my dads Fig Tree all the way to the ground . He left 3 stems about 5 inches tall. Will it come back? Worried! Ellen
