See the PP26743 after the name of this neat little hosta? That means that this plant is patented and you can I are not allowed to propagate this hosta, even if for our own yard.
But don’t let the plant patent scare you off. Just because we can’t propagate plants like this we can still buy them as small plugs for just a dollar or two a piece and grow them on and resell them. In Our Members Area we share sources where you can buy plants like this at deeply discounted wholesale prices. A plant like this I usually pay around $1.70 each and that includes the small royalty that is due on each patented plant that is sold.
Keep in mind, the plant patent only lasts for 20 years from the date of application so that protection does not last forever. Once the patent expires the plant is no longer protected but the name might be. See this.
Things you should know about Mini Skirt Hosta . . .
- This hosta only gets 5″ tall, the flowers about 7″ tall.
- This hosta gets about 12″ wide.
- This hosta is hardy from zone 3 through zone 9.
- This hosta likes a little sun but not too much. Some sun helps to hold the color but too much sun burns the edges of the leaves.
- This hosta blooms in mid to late summer.
Definitely one of my favorite hostas and I often use them with Blue Mouse Ears planted in groups.
